Is it a good idea to invest on silver coins or bullion?

I bought a canadian silver maple leaf coin at a coin shop. The owner sold it to me for 40$ instead of 45$. Do you think it's a good idea for me to invest on silver coins and bullion even after the price of silver has dropped?

Is silver a good investment?

With the continued devaluation of the dollar resulting in the rise of precious metals prices, I'm considering purchasing some silver to act as a hedge to preserve my own buying power. I chose silver over gold because it's cheaper and also actually is more scarce than gold, since gold is bought and hoarded while silver is bought & consumed (for electronics and other industrial uses). Is this a good investment? If I invest, it will be in physical bullion, probably in pre-1964 silver US coins, which have 90% silver content.

I have a bunch of pre-1965 silver dimes and quarters I want to sell for their bullion value. The best deal I can find would pay me 75% of the current silver spot price. So if silver spot is per ounce and I have a dollar of face value to sell I would receive X 0.72338 X 75% = .70. Is that too low? In other words I realize dealers have to make a profit but 25% seems a bit much. Thanks.
